I wish to offer a tip. You wrote "I wanted to thank you..." Actually, when you wrote that, "I want to thank you..." would have been correct. You were writing in the present.

This habit of substituting past for present is ubiquitous. I often hear live interviews in which the interviewer says "I wanted to ask..."! What do they mean? That in the past they wanted to ask this question but now they do not, continuing only under duress or lack of a better question? No, they mean "I want to ask...".

In the last (3rd) paragraph of your kind response you explain that you "wanted to keep it as simple as possible". This is correct, because the time of writing your original article is now past.

Does this seem pedantic to you? I hope not.
